Skeletal Muscle Ultrasonography and Muscle Fitness Relationships: Effects of Scanning Plane and Echogenicity Correction

نویسندگان

چکیده

This study examines the relationships between ultrasonography measurements of skeletal muscle size and echo intensity (EI) with strength local endurance in a habitually resistance-trained population. Twenty young, healthy participants underwent imaging biceps brachii sagittal transverse planes extended field view (EFOV) technique. Linear regression was used to examine measures thickness (MT), cross-sectional area (mCSA), EI, corrected EI (cEI) each scanning plane for their associations (1RM curl) (4x failure @ 50%1RM). The strongest predictor 1RM MT (adj. R2 = 0.682) cEI 0.449), respectively. Strength (R2 0.661) EFOV mCSA 0.643) demonstrated positive relationship. Local 0.265) scan 0.309) negative No were shown uncorrected EI. While supports size-strength echogenicity-endurance relationships, fitness. These findings provide important methodological insights regarding ultrasound fitness relationships.

The Relationships Between Some Physical Fitness Factors and Muscle Damage in People With Intellectual Disabilities

Objectives: The physical component of tasks can be a problem because of muscle weakness; therefore, this research was performed to investigate the relationships between some physical fitness factors and muscle damage enzyme levels in people with mild Intellectual Disabilities (ID). Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 314 students with ID (Body Mass Index [BMI]: 23.42±4.84 kg/m2), after mea...

Isolation and optimization of mice skeletal muscle satellite cells using preplating method and culture media substitution

Introduction: Satellite cells are known as the main regenerative cell type in skeletal muscles. Our study established a modified digestion and preplating method for the isolation of slow or weak adherent cells for the enrichment of satellite cells. Low-survival rate of these primary stem cells prompted us to address whether cell culture medium substitution might change cell viability status. M...

Physical Fitness and Mitochondrial Respiratory Capacity in Horse Skeletal Muscle

BACKGROUND Within the animal kingdom, horses are among the most powerful aerobic athletic mammals. Determination of muscle respiratory capacity and control improves our knowledge of mitochondrial physiology in horses and high aerobic performance in general. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS We applied high-resolution respirometry and multiple substrate-uncoupler-inhibitor titration protocols to ...

Effects of ionic parameters on behavior of a skeletal muscle fiber model

All living cells have a membrane which separates inside the cell from it's outside. There is a potential difference between inside and outside of the cell. This potential difference will change during an action potential. It is quite common to peruse action potentials of skeletal muscle fibers with the Hodgkin-Huxley model. Since Hodgkin and Huxley summarized some controlling currents like inwa...

Effects of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy on Muscle Spasticity in Post-Stroke Patients: An Ultrasonography and Clinical-Base Study

Purpose: To investigate the effect of single session Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) over the ankle plantar flexor muscles on the spasticity, muscle architecture, and gait in chronic stroke patients. Methods: This quasi-experimental, single group study had a repeated measures design. A total of 17 post-stroke patients were selected by convenience sampling method, and received 2000 sho...
